Sex Education

Here is my experience with sex education at school. When I was in school and they were going to talk about sex a notice went home for the parents to see. That way the parents could discuss it a head of time with their child. Some parent opted to have their children not be in the class during that due to they felt it was a family matter and to be handled at home.
Now, yesterday my child came home with a hand full of literature about birth control. And informed me they were shown things related to ABORTIONS!!!!!!!!!! They gave them literature on the RU486 pill and Day After Pill. As a means of birth control. Excuse me, really.
I am not anti abortion but I feel it is not a form of birth control. I feel that if it is medically necessary or rape or incest then yes I am for it. But, birth control!!!!!!!!! Needless to say I was ready to fly through the roof. A pregnancy center that came in to talk to the kids told them that they recommended they not share this information with their parents. WHAT!? So, of course the first thing Brittany does is share with me.
Today, I did my own poll of how other parents feel about this subject and about how they would feel if there child was taught that abortion is a form a birth control. I will have to say that our country is not as Liberal as we thought. All the parent would be really upset by this.
I went to the school today and had a talk with the principal. Showed him all the information given to the kids. Yes, they had things on adoption also but there was more information about abortion than anything. Explained that the teacher over stepped her boundaries. And really upset me as a parent. I told him that my daughter was to be removed from that class. I also called other parents and informed them about this class and they were just as upset.
They also informed the kids that they could come in to the pregnancy resource center and get birth control and could have the morning after or the RU486 pill and they would not inform the parents. Now, I know all this but to tell a 14 year old child this!!!
I will be going to the center on Monday when they are open and giving them a piece of my mind.
What is this world coming to.

Zero Tolerance

Zero Tolerance.......I thought our school was a Zero Tolerance school. If you were in possession of illegal drugs you were expelled.
Nope that is not the case. Our school gives you multiple chances. If you have drugs on you get 5 days suspension. 5 DAYS....What is that telling our children. Its OK, we just slap your hands and that is it. I know if you were in possession and were pulled over by a cop you would be arrested and have to go to jail.
Recently a child in my daughters class brought drugs to school. This child bragged to someone about it and and was busted. They then bring drug dogs in the school to search for more. And now this child is coming back. My daughter and her friends are upset that this is happening. The feel all this child is going to do is brag about it. If they had their way this child would no longer be able to attend their school. And I agree with that. And I even looked at it as if it was my child. Yep, I would want there to be repercussion for her actions. I always tell my daughter that for every action there is a reaction. Whether it is a good or bad action.
What do you think? Am I wrong for thinking that way?

School rules

Did you know at my daughters school I can not send a note stating I will be picking her up early or saying she will not be in school. If I do not give them a valid in their terms excuse it will be an unexcused absent.
I as a parent have to get a note from the doctor stating that yes I did bring my child in for an appointment.
As a parent I can not take my child out of school for a family trip. It will be considered unexcused.
Do you know how dumb you sound telling the doctor that you need a note from them proving that I brought my child in for an appointment.
And if I do not provide proof and I take her out of school to much in their eyes I will go to court.
Now if she was skipping school and I as a parent did nothing about it, yes I agree I should go to court. But if I say we have to go out of town or she has to see the dentist or doctor I should not have to prove anything. AGH.............
Now for my youngest I do not need to do any of this. Go figure.

The Little Mans First Concert at School

This is very funny to watch. My little man is in the back row in the green shirt getting his arms stuck on the risers. I am glad the program was only a 1/2 hour long because the kids were losing interest fast.

School is Over

I finished my last class on Lean Manufacturing last week. What a learning experience it was for me. Now I will see what kind of influence I have on others around me.
I picked up a laptop this week that way I can blog and watch TV at the same time. (OK not really) It will come in handy since I am always doing something on the computer and the kids need the computer for school that I have to stop and let them on. But now I can still surf and the kids can do the stuff they need to do for school.
Brit, is still going to be in the school play. That means she is doing good in school.
Little man is loving school. He is always happy to show me what he has done for the day.

Well that is the update for now I just have to figure this thing out some more and I will be able to blog and add pictures soon.

1st Day of School

Yesterday the kids went back to school. Yippee. As is the routine I am always home for the first day. I love to watch them get ready. I am also home in case some one is so excited they get sick and need to come home.(that has happened to Brit)

This year we never received a notice about the kids bus. We live in a town that is SIX blocks long. Yet for some reason we have 2 buses that come in to town. The one the kids have taken in the past was down at the Post Office. The other goes to the house behind our home. Last year they added the second bus(the bus also pick up the kids that live farther out than us). We never received a notice on the bus. As in what time it will be at its stop or which bus. Thinking they took their heads out of their Butts and put my kids on the one right behind the house, I sent them to that bus.

Later in the afternoon I received a call from the bus company.

"We are calling because your children road the wrong bus this morning. And they need to ride the other bus. That is the bus they are assigned to." Bus company says

"Well due to the fact that we received no information on which bus the kids should ride and the bus they road drives in front of my house and picks kids up right behind my house to me it was the logical place for them to catch the bus." I say back.

"It is a block either way for the kids to go. So they must be on the other bus tomorrow. We will let them ride it home tonight."BC informs me.

I am steaming. Now I tend to fly off the handle and say awful things when I am angry. I just say Fine. Knowing I will be going to the school in the AM to deal with this.

After school gets out I wait for my children to arrive home. In the door walks Brit. "Where is your Brother?"

"Vicky the bus driver would not let me on the bus. She told me to ride the other bus home. And I she would not let me take him off the bus." Brit tells me.

OK the school has not called so he is on a bus. But where is he. We see the other bus. Nope he does not get off the bus. My heart is racing. Ok the bus has yet to come full circle. Finally a half hour later here comes my Little Man. All by himself.

That was our exciting First Day of School.
